Two Piece Rigid Boxes

Two piece rigid boxes are made up of a separate base and lid that fit together instead of folding from one flat sheet. Each piece gets built on its own using thick greyboard or chipboard usually somewhere between 1200 and 1600 GSM. Once the paper wrap and lamination go on the two pieces slide together and give you that solid sturdy feel people expect from premium packaging.

This style works well for gift boxes, shoe boxes, electronics and anything where you want the unboxing to feel like a moment. The lid lifts straight off instead of flipping open on a hinge which keeps the whole thing looking clean and simple on a shelf or in someone's hands.

We build these in different depths depending on what's going inside. The luxury packaging can make your box as small as 3x3x2 inches. We can also make them as big as 14x10x15 inches. Each and every aspect of the box comes with full customization options.

Printing can be done in full CMYK or specific Pantone colors and both the base and lid can carry different finishes if needed. Foil stamping, debossing and spot UV all work well on this style since the flat lid top gives a clean surface to work with. Inside the box you can add foam inserts, felt lining or leave it as raw board depending on the product.

Free die-line templates get sent out before printing starts so you can check fit sizing and logo placement early. Reorders use the same die-line file which keeps things consistent.

Sizes we produce range from small jewellery boxes through to large gift presentation boxes. Square, rectangular, and some specialty shapes are all achievable. The structure stays the same — separate lid and base but dimensions, board weight, and wrap material all adjust to the spec.

Print options cover logos, product names, taglines, brand graphics, and full surface artwork. We check color registration carefully minor shifts are noticeable on luxury rigid boxes, especially against matte backgrounds, and we'd rather catch them at proofing than after production.

Finishing Options

Foil stamping — On a solid-color ground, foiling stands out without competing with anything else on the surface.

Embossing and debossing — logos and marks raised from or pressed into the material. Adds a tactile quality that print alone doesn't give you. Customers feel it when they run a finger across the lid, and that's part of the impression.

Soft-touch lamination — matte coating with a slightly velvety surface texture. Used frequently in beauty and premium retail. It photographs well and feels noticeably different from standard laminate.

Spot UV — glossy coating applied selectively over a matte base. Draws the eye to a specific element — a logo, a pattern, a product name — without changing the surrounding color.

Edge painting — color put to the raw board edges, visible when the lid is lifted. A detail that signals careful construction rather than a surface-level finish.

The Order Process

Send us your product dimensions, a rough quantity, and any color or finish direction you have. We'll come back with a structural die line and pricing.

Before any full production run, we produce a physical sample. You check the sizing, the finish, the print, and the insert fit. If anything needs adjusting, we revise at that stage. We won't move to full production without sign-off on a sample — it's easier to fix things before the run than after.
